A very special treat from Japan where it was once a highly guarded species, only passed on for generations from father to son! This free-blooming miniature species is found in mossy humid forests where it enjoys a dry winter followed by a wet spring and summer. Its fragrant long-lasting flowers are produced in the spring on short single-flowered inflorescences produced from the nodes of its leafless canes. This particular clone, ‘Marble’, has the added “wow” factor of beautifully variegated leaves, attractive even when not in flower.
